What is time anyways?
I have been so caught off guard at how fast time goes by when you have a baby. My whole pregnancy I can remember just praying the days would go by faster because I was so miserable. Why does time draaaag on when you're pregnant? Then you have your baby and suddenly the days turn into nights and its been another week in what seems like a few hours. Or better yet time REALLY flies when you're up feeding your baby in the night go back to sleep and suddenly he is crying to get up for the day. I swear it's only been seconds since I closed my eyes! How fast it has been moving has really had me thinking about time and what it is and what it means.
The new Beauty and The Beast is coming out in March, and to say I'm excited is an understatement. Beauty and the Beast was always one of my favorites. The song in it that goes "Tale as old as time.." has caught my attention too. Time is OLD if you think of it as a living thing. It has been around forever. People back in the Mayan days even knew what time was and the concept of it and studied it.
We went to Mexico a few years ago and got to see the ruins of the Mayan people and everything revolved around time. Their buildings of stone were still standing and aligned perfectly to where the sun would shine through them flawlessly on the equinox. It was crazy.
Time is really the essence of existence. Time is the continuing on of life. Another minute, another hour, another day.
It's funny how in different times of your life it drags, like when you are counting down the days until a vacation, and in other instances, it goes by fast, like when you are actually on your vacation, before you know it you are heading home.
Or NICU life, when we were in the hospital with Case for 10 days, and it felt like we hadn't seen sunlight for months..literally. And now 10 days go by outside of the hospital and I swear I only blinked.
The crazy thing about time is that regardless of how fast we think it is going, or how slow we think it is going, it is always the same. Always.
We all have such different lives, different jobs, homes, experiences, and families. One thing that we have the same of is time. The rich can't buy more time, and the poor aren't shorted any. It is the absolute same for everyone. We all get 24 hours in a day regardless of our gender, name, or hometown.
Now if that's not motivating, I don't know what is. I, Andrea Roberts, have the same amount of time in my day as the billionaire Bill Gates? Yep! Lucky for us, time is more important and precious than money or things.
It's up to us what we do with our time, and how we choose to spend it.
I know how I will be spending mine the next few years. Being a mom. I could be out working and making/saving more money, but to me it is important to be a mom.
I don't feel bad anymore when I hold him for a whole day and get nothing done, because I got to hold my baby. Moments are more important than a clean house. The dirty dishes will be there tomorrow, but this baby won't be a baby forever. So if you come to my house and it's not perfectly put together, don't judge. Or if you think I hold my baby too much, I don't really care. I'm not as "put together" as I once was, that's okay though because this time with my baby is precious and I'll never get it back!
Speaking of growing and time passing Case is 2.5 months old! He is getting so big and seriously we are obsessed with him. We always say he is a level 7 (aka realllly cute). I'm pretty sure we say this at least 5 times a day, "Col look, he's such a level 7!" I don't even know why we started saying that, I think Collin started it. Seriously though guys, why are moms so obsessed with their babies? I can't get enough of him!
He is following with his eyes, and responding well to sounds. He is holding his head up when he is doing tummy time, and loves to be held (oops.. sorry not sorry). I feel like we are starting to get a good routine and know him so well! I always thought people were crazy when they said they knew their baby's cries and what they meant, but there's such truth to that!
Mack is still not so sure about him and usually ignores him, unless we leave the room then he checks him out. Collin went into the room the other day and found him licking Case's face and Case was sticking his tongue out back.. ha ha ha.. gross I know, but it was pretty funny. Case sucks on anything he can get his mouth on! If he wiggles himself under one of his toys on his play mat that hangs low, he will suck on it. It's so funny.
Life is good here at the Roberts residence.
I'm so thankful for the time I have been given with my cute little family. I hope to never take it for granted.
